Forensic Psychologist, Illinois based Mental Health CenterThe position involves evaluation, treatment and testimony regarding patients in a forensic psychiatric hospital who have been hospitalized because they have been found unfit to stand trial or not guilty by reason of insanity. (2008-Present).

Adjunct Instructor, Department of Psychology, University located in Missouri, The position involves teaching forensic psychology including the interface between psychology and various legal areas of concentration including criminal law, personal injury cases, and family law. (2007-Present).

Previous Clinical and Forensic Experience

Director of Forensic Evaluation Division, Missouri based Behavioral Medicine Institute (an affiliate of local University):  The position involved administrating the Forensic Division, mentoring forensic staff, presentations, marketing, and direct clinical services.  These services included litigation support to attorneys, psychological evaluations, and expert testimony regarding a wide variety of criminal, personal injury, and family law cases.

Services include consultation to attorneys and risk assessment of alleged and convicted sex offenders regarding mitigating factors at sentencing and hearings related to civil commitment of alleged sexually violent predators. (2007-2008).

Independent Practice of Clinical/Forensic Psychology:  Specialties included assessment and psychotherapeutic intervention with a variety of treatment modalities serving adults, adolescents, and children; consultation to attorneys, schools, nursing homes, human services agencies; forensic evaluations included both civil litigation (malpractice, sexual harassment, posttraumatic stress disorders, closed head injury, custody evaluations, personal injury) and criminal proceedings (competency, sanity, sentencing issues, sex offender risk assessment).

The position also included both inpatient and outpatient counseling on an individual basis and group basis for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder resulting from domestic violence, sexual abuse (children, adolescents, and adults), and other traumas and for alcohol and drug abuse.

The position also consisted of sex offender group treatment co-facilitated by probation officers.  In addition to group treatment, the position involved evaluating and counseling over 3000 sex offenders for sentencing hearings and sex offender civil commitment hearings.  Assessment by means of the penile plethysmograph was also used.   The position resulted in testifying on over 1500 occasions on a national and regional basis.  Wisconsin (1978-2007).

Director of a Forensic Psychiatric Company:  The position involved directing offices in Janesville, Wisconsin, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Rockford, Illinois, and in Chicago, Illinois.  The Director employed other psychologists and staff who provided evaluations and consultation to attorneys, judges, government agencies, and industries.

Consulting and Forensic Psychologist:  Consultation services (including psychological testing, evaluation, counseling, and consultation to staff) have been provided for the following settings:  Division of Community Corrections, Wisconsin (1984-2007); Swedish American Hospital, adolescent chemical dependency unit, Illinois (1987-1989); Jefferson County Human Services (1987-1992); and Rockford Memorial Hospital, adult psychiatric unit, Rockford, Illinois (1990-2005).  At Rockford Memorial Hospital, directed the Psychology Internship Training program.  This included supervising psychology interns for inpatient and outpatient psychiatric rotations, teaching social work trainees, recreation therapy trainees, and medical students.

Founder and Administrator:  This endeavor involved opening a comprehensive, non-profit alcohol and drug rehabilitation hospital.  Procured necessary hospital certification including a Certificate of Need and state licensure; became incorporated as a non-profit tax exempt entity; negotiated a ten year lease with the city located including renovation of a city-owned building; raised start-up contributions from area industries and foundations; hired all employees to start hospital; established the treatment program and established policy and procedures; equipped facility.  Center located in State of Wisconsin. (1980-1983).

Clinical Supervisor:  The position involved administrative and supervisory responsibilities for the delivery of mental health and drug/alcohol services at an outpatient psychiatric clinic; psychotherapy with outpatient adults, adolescents, and children; psychological testing, consultation and education to other agencies and the community.  Wisconsin (1976-1978)
