Developed merchandising and marketing programs and sold media for various publications. Hired as Senior Marketing Manager and promoted to Western/Midwest Sales Manager after continually generating largest annual increases in revenue, ad pages and market share. Responsible for hiring and managing sales rep organization as well as representing group of international publications to the US market. Developed media presentations and programs utilizing other media tie ins with magazine advertising.
Midwest Sales Manager - KBC Publishing Co.: 1985-92
Joined start up firm to set up Midwest office for new publication. Managed sales force and sold publications to various advertisers and developed total marketing programs. By 1987, was carrying 60% market share and 40% magazine revenues for the largest territory of the company, extending from Canada to Texas and Pennsylvania to Colorado. In 1988, received additional responsibilities on two new start-up magazines. Increased advertiser space beyond traditional markets and was honored for establishing highest number of new accounts every year since 1985.
Regional Sales Manager - Gorman Publishing: 1977-85
Sold advertising space in Prepared Foods, a 60,000+ circulation trade publication. Received "Salesman of the Year" award for outstanding sales growth after increasing territory billings from 10% of magazine revenues to more than 25%. Introduced and established new categories of advertisers beyond traditional markets. Responsible for taking the magazine from sixth place in a six-book market to first place. Commended annually as top sales performer.
Marketing Manager - Griffith Laboratories, Inc.: 1972-76
Responsible for advertising and marketing for this $500MM industrial manufacturer of food products and ingredients. Evaluated new product concepts, identified potential customer base products, analyzed and developed marketing plans and product lines and appraised market potential. Established a national "key account" program and personally serviced four major national accounts. Supervised a staff of five and worked closely with an outside advertising agency to develop trade advertisements, sales materials, packaging and media plan.
