COMMUNITY SERVICE
A SANE Organization,
North Kansas City, MO
Program Director, Vice President, 2000-present
As one of the founders of this unique non-profit organization, I assisted in
its overall development from the very beginning. The organization is a small
group of forensic nurses lead by a Medical Director to treat victims of sexual
assault. It has been extremely rewarding to be part of a very dedicated and
dynamic group of people.
All the time devoted to my role as Program Director and Vice President for this organization (as described above) has been donated up to January 1st, 2006. It is estimated that I spend nearly forty hours per week serving in this capacity without a salary for nearly six years. In addition, I have been directly involved with preparing, sponsoring and hosting many fundraising events (such as our fundraising garage sale).
KCIRSA,
Kansas City, MO
Member, 2003-present
I serve as a representative for our non-profit organization at Kansas City Interdisciplinary
Response to Sexual Assault (KCIRSA), which is a Kansas City metropolitan group
of sexual assault programs, prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, crime lab
representatives, and victim advocacy services-a collaborative sexual assault
response team. My donated time consists primarily of attending meetings, which
are for two hours every month.
Northland GreenBook Community
Initiative, Kansas City, MO
Leadership Team Member, 2005-present
I currently serve on the Leadership Team of the Northland GreenBook Community
Initiative. This group was formed April, 2005 and facilitates the overall improvement
of victims of domestic violence. I represent our non-profit organization and
forensic nursing in general on this collaborative domestic violence team for
the Kansas City northland area. My donated time consists primarily of attending
meetings, which are for two hours every month.
PERSONAL/OTHER
One of my biggest strengths is my superior work ethic. Only my family (and God) is priority over my work. I am very ambitious, learn quickly and love a challenge. I maintain a positive attitude and pleasant disposition in my work environment, even through adversity. I prefer to promote ideas/plans to solve problems rather than merely complaining about them.
I am very comfortable communicating not only with coworkers and clients/patients, but also with managers, physicians, and lawyers. I routinely communicate effectively with patients/victims during what is usually one of the most devastating times of their life-I feel I really make a difference with my blend of compassion and professional competence.
The biggest reason I went into the field of nursing was my genuine and unbiased caring attitude-I truly care about people and I believe people sense that. At this point in my life, my maturity and experience usually avert naivety.
