TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES
GRADUATE STUDENTS:
With Dr. Cantarow (Dept. of Biochemistry), Dr. Mantheii (Dept. of Pharmacology),
and Dr. Koscis (Dept. of Pharmacology) of Thomas Jefferson University, I have
supervised the post-graduate training of sixteen students. Twelve of these individuals
obtained Ph.D.'s, two received Master degrees, and two were post-doctoral fellows.
All studies in these programs concerned the basic and clinical pharmacology
of anti-cancer drugs. Many of the anti-cancer drugs in common use today had
their initial evaluation in the United States under this program. Included in
this program were the following agents: 5-fluorouracil, adriamycin, dacarbazine,
asparaginase, streptozotocin, 5 aza-cytidine, carbesterol, hexamethylmelamine,
cytosine arabinoside. I teach medical oncology and pharmacology concerning anti-neoplastic
agents to fellows in oncologic subspecialties at Allegheny University School
of Medicine.
MEDICAL STUDENTS, INTERNS, RESIDENTS, AND ONCOLOGY HEMATOLOGY FELLOWS Responsible for organizing training program in oncology and hematology and trained 49 individuals in these subspecialties
